Today's Royal Treatment

I had to truly laugh out loud when I walked into one of the last patient visits of the day. First, the 10 year old brother says "that sure is a high class flashlight you're wearing!" Certainly, my head light is unusual but the first time I've heard it called high class! Moments later, my young patient with Down's syndrome, reaches down and grabs my hand, she bends over slightly and kisses the back of my hand! I felt like royalty! She did it three more times prior to the end of my discussion with her mom. I've heard it said that Down's kids are only good at one thing - loving! My patient reminded me of how often that is true!
